Family Cookbook Solution
Since my attempt to create a family cookbook was put on the back burner for several years and some of you are still interested in the idea, I have a new solution. I will periodically post some of the recipes that were given to me back when I ask for submissions, and you may choose to copy them into a file, print them, etc. When you all come across those fun or amazing recipes that you want to share, do the same thing. We can each assemble our own family cookbook in our preferred format. I hope this solution works for you. I won't promise how frequently I will post, but I will do it fairly often as my schedule permits until I run out of the recipes you submitted. It won't take that long.
The first installment will be Annette's recipes. If you have suggestions for format, or if you think I should separate each recipe into a separate post, let me know either with a comment or an e-mail.

Poppy Seed Tea Bread Recipe
Flora and Susan requested that I post this recipe. It's been in my family for about 20 years. Some of you have had it from us, and some have had it elsewhere. It is one of our favorites. We hope you enjoy it.
Poppy Seed Tea Bread
3 cups flour
2 ½ cups sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
3 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
1 ½ teaspoons almond extract
1 ½ teaspoons butter flavoring
Preheat oven to 325˚ In large bowl of electric mixer, or with a rotary beater, blend all ingredients until well mixed—about 2 minutes. Pour into two greased and floured loaf pans and bake 60 minutes, or until cake tester is clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan.
Glaze: ¼ cup fresh orange juice
¾ cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract
½ teaspoon vegetable oil
Heat all ingredients until sugar melts. Prick bread with a fork and cover with warm glaze.
**Sometimes I do this while the loaves are still in the pan; sometimes I place the loaves on a cooling rack before I glaze them. I think they’re better when the glaze soaks in more, but it’s a matter of personal taste.
Enjoy!

Tuesdays plans
Tuesday we will be going Ice Skating at
Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center
7500 South 2700 East
The session is from 7 to 9 pm
It is only 2 hours so if you are late, you won't have as long to skate. You can come a little early if you want to get your skates.
Since the session starts at 7, we decided we wouldn't worry about dinner, so eat before you come. We will have snacks and drinks.
We will be getting the group discount, so it costs $4.00 per person, that includes your skates.
I will have your wrist bands just where you get your skates.

Christmas pictures
Just a few pictures of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I'm sure others have better pictures and we would love to have you add yours or e-mail them to me and I will put them on. According to my calculations, which might not be right, we had 62 people at Janet's on Christmas eve and 67 on Christmas day. It was great getting to see most everyone again. Between the two days we saw 25 of the 30 cousins. That's great!
We especially want to THANK Janet & Dave for opening their home up to us. That's a lot of extra work for them.
